Douglas A-26B-56-DL Invader by Hobby Master HA3210

Douglas A-26B-56-DL Invader 13th Bomber sqn., 3rd Bomber Wing Iwakuni AB, South Korea, August 1950.1/72 scale die cast by Hobby Master # HA3210, Length: 8.25". Wingspan: 11.75”. On January 4, 1952 A-26B-56-DL “Nan” serial 44-34372 c/n 27651 began its departure from Iwakuni AB. Part way through the take-off run pilot Dick Gerrity tried to abort and ran off the end of the runway into a soft sand beach. When the nose gear hit the sand it collapsed, causing the aircraft to flip over. The A-26 was carrying frag bombs that opened and scattered bomblets everywhere. Fortunately the crew members were hauled from the wreck just before the tide came in.
